next exercise a little easier so it’s kind of like a rest exercise andit’s the basic crunch so lay on the floor bend your knees and place yourhands by the side of your head now slowly contract your abs bringingyour shoulder blades off the floor you need to make sure you’re lifting yourshoulder off the floor for this exercise to be effective if you want to add a bitmore resistance this exercise you can do the leg high crunches instead oralternate however this is optional the only difference is that you keep yourlegs straight in the air and touch the toes once again you need to make sureyou’re lifting your shoulder off the floor for

this exercise to be effectivenext up we have the sit-up and twist so it’s the same movement as a sit-up wedid earlier but at the top rotate the body as shown make sure to alternatesides each time to ensure you work out both sides if you struggle with this orthe situps anchoring the feet will help to begin with and finally it’s time forthe dorsal raises also known as the Superman the aim of this exercise is towork the lower back muscles after completing the abdominal exercises solay facedown on the floor stretch your arms and legs and slowlyraise your chest and legs off the floor

while squeezing the lower back thenslowly lower them back to the floor again and to do this for 3 sets of 10 sothat’s the exercises done and please remember if you do them correctly youcan expect to lose at least 2 centimeters off your waistline in sixweeks which is great but there was also definitely not as good as the dietcontrol group which we spoke about in episode one who lost not 0.5 to 1kilogram every single week and after six weeks they lost 5 centimeters in theirwaistline and this is because the participants who

only did the abdominalexercise so they did no diet change were really just improving their muscletone now you might be thinking yourself whatever how what do you mean by that byimproving the muscle tone their body is able to hold the fat in better so whatthat means is you’re not actually lose fat but your body is holding the fat inbetter so it’s improving the appearance of the waistline hence the twocentimeter reduction which is why it’s super important that you’re not justfixated on doing abdominal crunches to lose weight or belly fat yes we knowthat from the study after six weeks doing those abdominal crunches did workthere was a two centimeter reduction but for maximum impact you need to be makingthose dietary changes that I explained in episode one and I will leave a linkup here and in the description below for you if you haven’t seen that video andremember if you do do the diet correctly you can expect to lose 0.5 to1kg every single week

which is amazing right but here’s some evenbetter news the study also showed after six weeks the individuals reduce theirvisceral fat remember visceral fat we spoke about it right at the start thedangerous fat that increases your risk of many different health conditionswell the individuals had a reduction in their visceral fat of about 14% which isamazing they also had a reduction in their cholesterol they also have thereduction in their blood pressure and after six weeks their waistline reducedby five centimeters which again incredible now just for one secondimagine if you do the diet changes from episode 1 and mix them with theexercises that we’ve learnt today those results they should be pretty incredibleand also

And while we absolutely love adele and think she looks incredible no matter what, we just had to find out more about this amazing diet that claims to help you lose up to 15 kgs in just a few weeks, and that is, the sirtfood diet. So we decided to break it down for you and figure out what all the hype was about so that you can decide whether this diet is right for you! Sirt foods are mostly plant based foods that are super rich in antioxidants and basically trick your body into burning off all that unwanted fat a lot faster. The diet limits the calories you eat and encourages you to fill yourself up with these superfoods over everything else! This works because these foods are rich in ‘sirtuan activators’ or ‘sirts’ which are proteins that activate your ‘skinny gene’ by telling your body to rev up your metabolism and increase your muscle mass all while burning incredible amounts of fat at the same time.

This diet actually caught everyones eye because it advertised sirtfoods like dark chocolate and red wine! But there are a ton of other foods that are rich in sirts that you can eat for a balanced diet. Some of these are leafy greens like kale and parsley, fruits like apples, citrus fruits and strawberries.

There are also meats like chicken, egg whites and salmon, you can also throw in some of our favourite flavours like onion, garlic, turmeric and chilli and finally you can top it all off with tasty drinks like green tea and black coffee. There are two phases for this diet. The first phase lasts for 7 days and the second for 14 days. For days 1-3 you should reduce your calorie intake to 1000cal, drink 3 sirtfood green juices and make sure one of your meals are sirtfood rich.

So for example on day one your meal plan starts with a green juice made of kale, celery, parsley, apples and green tea and you can follow it up with a small bowl of yogurt with some fresh fruit .

Before lunch you can drink another green juice and then eat a leafy green salad for your sirtfood rich meal. Snack on some fresh fruit like apples or oranges in the evening along with your third green juice and end your day with a small chicken breast, some seafood or some noodles and veggies For days 4 to 7 you can increase your calorie intake to 1500 calories a day drink 2 sirtfood green juices and eat 2 sirtfood rich meals So here you’d change things up by eating slightly larger portions of each meal and swapping out one green juice for a green tea or coffee instead. So after this first week, if you follow the diet correctly you’re looking at losing around 3kgs! In phase 2, you need to keep your calorie count at 1500cal, drink 1 green juice a day and make sure all 3 of your meals are rich in sirtfoods. If you’re still following your meal plan religiously you could lose another 3-5kgs after these two weeks.

After this you can increase your calorie intake to whatever feels comfortable but stick to a sirtfood rich diet. An average daily calorie intake is around 2000cal so this means you’ll be reducing quite a bit of your daily diet. Calorie numbers always go over my head so to put it in perspective for you, one large cheese pizza is around 2000cal so to follow this diet, you’ll be eating the equivalent of half to ¾ of one of those tasty pizzas for the whole day but in healthy foods! The foods encouraged in the sirtfood diet are all extremely healthy, nutritious foods that can help build immunity and might even help reduce signs of ageing. No foods are really ‘banned’ in this diet as long as you stick to the suggested calories so you can indulge in a few small treats from time to time. The diet overall is an extremely effective and super fast way to shed some weight so it could be a great option to look slimmer for an upcoming event.

It can be dangerous to cut down so much of your daily meals and you might have headaches or feel lightheaded for the first week as your body adjusts. And if you’re anything like me you might be a little grumpy too! The sirtfood diet might initially be hard to follow, especially in Indian households where we love our oil, ghee and heavy carbs! Another huge drawback of the fad is that this weight loss could be short term and as soon as you stop following it your body will gain a lot of the weight back.

To be honest, there is not much research about this diet so before you get on board we always recommend you speak to your doctor or nutritionist first. If you have diabetes or are pregnant or breastfeeding or a training athlete then this diet is not for you as it will throw off your blood sugar levels and reduce your nutrition too severely.
